Audrey
Hamilton
Apr 15, 1927 — Aug 6, 2024
Mrs. Audrey Thomas Hamilton, 97, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, August 6, 2024. Born April 15, 1927, in Union County, she was a daughter of the late Edger Green Thomas and Mary Lee Gaddy Thomas. She was also preceded in death by her husband Reece Hamilton after 66 years of marriage, her daughter, Debra Smith, siblings, Max Thomas, Herbert Thomas and Willie Ruth Baucom.
Audrey was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. She was a devout Christian and lifetime member of Hamilton Cross Road Baptist Church. You could often see her sitting on her front porch listening to her audio Bible. Before her health began to fail, she enjoyed cooking, spending time in her yard tending her flowers and ensuring every leaf and acorn was removed from her yard. She always welcomed family and friends in her home, and you were often told to hurry back when you could stay longer. We couldn't get to her house quick enough on Sunday afternoons to eat her homemade biscuits with Kings Syrup, her sticky rice, and freshly baked pound cake.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Union County for the care they provided during her sickness.
A funeral service to celebrate the life of Audrey will be 11 AM, Saturday, August 10, 2024, at Hamilton Cross Road Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10-10:45 at the church.
Those left to cherish her memory include a son, Randy Hamilton (Lisa), daughters, Sharon Davis (Larry) and Lori Helms; grandchildren, Dawn Smith Reynolds, Anita Chris (Justin), Jennifer Williams (fiancé Mike), Brent Davis (Sara), Terry Leigh (Erin), Chase Hamilton (Autumn), Bliss Plyler (Alex) and Stone Hamilton (Erika); great grandchildren, Audriana, Zach, Leanne (fiancé, Mason), Ella, Parker, Sadie, Ethan, Beau, Henry and Hallie; numerous nieces and nephews.
The family suggests memorials be made to Hamilton Cross Road Baptist Church, 6133 Old Goldmine Road, Marshville, NC 28103.
Morgan & Son Funeral Home is serving the family of Mrs. Hamilton.
