Mrs. Barbara Hughey Wood, a loving lady, wife and mother with a beautiful soprano voice left Austin Grove Church Choir on Friday June 6th, 2014 to join Godâ??s Heavenly Choir. She was born on November 11, 1929 in Cherokee County, South Carolina to the late Grady and Rena Hughey. Her Celebration of Life will be 11am Monday the 9th of June, 2014 at Austin Grove Baptist Church. Entombment will follow at Lakeland Memorial Park. Visitation will be 5pm-6:30pm Sunday the 8th of June, 2014 at Morgan & Son Funeral Home. Family members include her husband of 62 years Rev. John M. Wood, 2 daughters: Jeannie Hargette and her husband Wayne of Monroe and Kerri Collins and her husband Gil of Marshville. One son; Jeff Wood and his wife Terri of Marshville. Mrs. Wood was blessed to have 7 grandchildren that she loved very much. Jacob Collins of Marshville, Ben Collins and his wife Lauren of Concord, Johnathan Hargette and his wife Ginny of Stallings. Andrew Hargette of Monroe, Hannah Beachum and her husband Adam of Marshville, Zack Wood and his fiancé Hannah Raye of Mt. Pleasant and Lucas Wood of Marshville. She also had 3 great granddaughters: Maggie, Kayden and Emma Jade. Mrs. Wood was also survived by her sister Daphine Haltiwanger and her husband Henry of Newberry, SC. The family has requested that memorials may be made to Austin Grove Baptist Church, 5919 Austin Grove Church Rd., Marshville, NC, 28103.
