Mr. William "Bill" Burchell Ward, 78, of Wingate, passed away Thursday at Atrium Health – Union.  Born April 7, 1943 in Whiteville, NC he was the son of the late Willie W. Ward and Evelyn Coates Ward. He grew up in Dillon, SC. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Dustin Manus.  Bill was a US Navy Veteran having served from 1961 to 1967.  He was retired from Springs Industries, having worked in Monroe, NC and Lancaster, SC for them for 31 years.

A funeral service to celebrate the life of Bill will be 10:30 AM, Saturday, August 14, 2021 from the graveside of Austin Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Ward is survived by his wife, Jennie Nelson Ward; daughter; Kimberly Ward Gill (Jody); son, Scott Burchell; sister, Priscilla "Dot" Horne (Ed); granddaughter, Brandi Manus; Dustin's fiancée' at his death, Elizabeth Daley; great grandsons, Trenton Manus, Rylan Manus, Thomas Manus and Lochlan Acker.
