Marshville – Mr. William "Billy" Edward Bennett, 90, passed away Friday, December 10, 2021 at his home. He was born in Polkton, NC on January 8, 1931 and was the son of the late Frank Boggan Bennett and Gladys Horton Bennett. He was also preceded in death by a wife Arlene Bennett, sisters, Wanda Clayton and Carolyn Anderson.

A funeral service to celebrate the life of Billy will be 11 AM, Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at Austin Grove Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Bennett Grove Cemetery in Polkton.  The family will receive friends from 10-10:45 in the church sanctuary.

Mr. Bennett is survived by his loving wife, Delane Preslar Bennett; and his step children, Rodney Preslar (Denise), Joy Griffin (Gary), Cary Preslar (Kelly), seven grandchildren, Connor Preslar (Emily), Chase Preslar, Lydia Griffin, Bryson Griffin (Jessie), Luke Preslar, Lainey Preslar and Laurel Preslar; great grandchildren, Jordan Preslar and Sarah Preslar; and three nieces.

Billy served our country during the Korean conflict and the reserves following the war.  He was a strong believer in the Christian faith and was instrumental in the building of handicap ramps with the brotherhood at Austin Grove Baptist Church.  He loved trees, cows and anything to do with nature.  He was a prominent dairy, row crop and pine tree farmer in Anson County. He and his wife Delane, enjoyed travelling throughout their marriage.
