Obituary

Mr. Billy Ray Gibson, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, father-in-law, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 28th, 2024. He was born to Lawrence Gibson and Betty Stegall on May 14, 1953.

Billy was born and raised in Marshville, NC. He was a marine, a little league coach, an employee of Griffin lumber company, a poultry grower and a truck driver for Heritage Propane and he will always be remembered as one of the first volunteer firefighters and first responders in the 70s and early 80s. If you ever met him, you were always greeted with a smile. He was a devoted and loving father, grandfather, dedicated employee and a faithful friend. There was nothing that Billy enjoyed more than spending time with his boys, grandchildren and his many friends. Billy loved Jesus and made the choice years ago to give his life to Him. We know he is in heaven today talking with his savior. He is preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Gibson and a brother, Robert Gibson.

Those left to cherish his memory include his mother, Betty Horne Stegall; sons, Davey Gibson (Dana), Travis Gibson (Allison), Matthew Gibson (Brittany); sister Judy Evans (Junior); nieces, Cindy Roland, Wanda Kentrolis (Nick); Billy's boys were his world but his grandchildren & great grandchildren were his pride and joy and he loved them dearly; Especially when they were helping him eat puffed Cheetos: Cheyenne Neeley (Bobby), Colby Gibson, Chance Gibson, Donavan Gibson, Tenlei Gibson, Ty McRorie, Kinsley McRorie, Brooklyn Parah, Isabella Gibson, Saylor Fox, Oakleigh Fox and Charlie Neeley.

To honor Billy's memory, a visitation will be held Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at Morgan & Son Funeral Home from 10 -10:45 with a service to celebrate his life following at 11. He will be laid to rest at Peachland City Cemetery with military honors.

Morgan & Son Funeral Home is serving the family of Mr. Gibson.
