Marshville – Rev. Charles Edward Cooley, Jr., 80, passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at Atrium Hospice in Monroe.  Born February 25, 1946, in Martin County, Florida, he was the son of the late Charles Cooley, Sr. and Virginia Terry Cooley.

He pastored for 40+ years in Florida and Charlotte, NC.  He was also a master craftsman woodworker.

A funeral service to celebrate the life of Rev. Cooley will be 11 AM, Saturday, March 21, 2026, from the Shining Light Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Marshville City Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 10- 10:45 in the church.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 59 years, Elaine Robinson Cooley; son, Stephen Cooley; daughter, Kimberly Helou (Daniel); granddaughter, Coral Carson: siblings, David Cooley, Wallace Cooley (Jerilyn), and Sheila Eldreth (Eddie), 12 nieces and nephews.
