Obituary

Peachland – Mr. Charles A. Nance, 90, died Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at the Hospice House in Monroe. Born March 3, 1925 in Anson County, he was a son of the late Alfred Alexander Nance and Effie Kiker Nance. He was also preceded in death by sisters, Ruby Tucker, Myrtle Sutherland and Bernice Williams.

Mr. Nance was a US Navy Veteran of WWII. He was a Motor Machinists Mate serving in the South Pacific aboard Landing Ship Medium -220.

A funeral service to celebrate the life of Charles will be 3PM Friday at Freedom Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Hopewell United Methodist Church Cemetery with Military Honors rendered by the U.S. Navy. The family will receive friends Friday from 1:30 to service time at Freedom Baptist Church. Revs. Bill High and Rocky Carpenter will officiate.

Mr. Nance is survived by his wife, Betty Louise Caudle Nance of the home; sons, Alvin Nance and his wife Karen and Ernie Nance and his wife Joy; daughters, Brenda N. Raborn and her husband Gary and Linda N. Griffin and her husband Terry; grandchildren, Allison Nance, Josh Nance and his wife Angela, Melanie Knight and her husband Will, Benjamin Raborn and his wife Anna, Rebecca Raborn, Lindsay Griffin, Daniel Griffin and his wife Jennifer, and Mikayla Nance; great-grandchildren, Makyna Nance, Brinley Nance, Charley Grace Nance, Easton Knight, Lexi Griffin and Ethan Griffin.

Memorials may be made to Freedom Baptist Church, 5964 Highway 218 East, Peachland, NC 28133 and Hospice of Union County, 700 West Roosevelt Blvd., Monroe, NC 28112
