Marshville – Mrs. Christine Helms Thomas, 96, passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at Brookdale Assisted Living in Monroe. Born July 28, 1927, in Union County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Carl Pernay Helms and Javie Ross Helms.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Thomas, her daughter, Sandra McCollum and her brother, Kenneth Helms.

During her 68-year marriage she was her husband's right hand on the farm, which Harold dubbed "The Scuffle Ranch" and at Thomas Eggs.  After retirement they enjoyed many bus tours all over the country, seeing new sights and meeting new friends.

She will be remembered for her love of family, friends, church family, singing, cooking, and gardening.

A funeral service to celebrate the life of Christine will be 11 AM Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Olive Branch Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends in the church sanctuary one hour prior to the service.

Those left to cherish her memory include grandsons, Michael McCollum (Gretchen) and Douglas McCollum (Lisa); great grandchildren, Dorian and Lillian McCollum.

The family suggests memorials be made to Olive Branch Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 8804 Hwy 218 East, Marshville, NC.
