Obituary

Rev. Daniel Edward Huneycutt, 92, died Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at WG Bill Hefner VA Hospital in Salisbury. Born April 4, 1925, in Stanly County, NC, he was a son of the late James Edward and Margaret Bass Huneycutt. He was also preceded in death by Ruth Chadler, Baxter Honeycutt.
In 1943, he enlisted in the Marine Corp. and served in the Philippines during WWII. After his service, he attended Wingate Jr. College; Furman University; and then New Orleans Theology Seminary. He then began his active ministry. In 1954, he reenlisted in Navy and served as a Chaplain.
A funeral service to celebrate his life will be 2pm Sunday, January 28th at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the graveside in the church sanctuary.
Rev. Huneycutt is survived by his wife of 75 years, Florence Meggs Huneycutt; daughters, Margaret Huneycutt Cochran and her husband Steve of Pinehurst, NC; Carolyne Huneycutt Prefer of Charlotte NC; and Lynday Huneycutt and her husband Charles Watson of Brasstown, NC; son, James Robert Huneycutt and his wife Sharon of Nashville, NC, grandchildren: Daniel, Timothy and Stacey Cochran; Alexis Seven Klebanov; James R. II, Olivia M. and Greyson M. Huneycutt; and six great grandchildren; siblings, Aaron Huneycutt of Polkton, Jacob Efird of Oakboro and Polly Ezzard of Blueridge, GA.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to New Salem American Legion Post 440, 5909 Sugar & Wine Road, Monroe, NC 28110 or Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 7002 Pleasant Hill Church Road, Marshville, NC 28103. Morgan & Son Funeral Home is serving the family of Rev. Huneycutt.
