Ms. Dawn Merritt, 51, of Monroe, NC passed away, Monday, June 19, 2017 at Novant Presbyterian in Charlotte.  Born November 11, 1965 in Mecklenburg County, she was the daughter of Gerald (Marie) Griffin and Barbara Griffin. She was preceded in death by a brother, Gerald Marshall Griffin. She loved to play golf and was very active in the Ladies Auxiliary at the American Legion Post # 27.  She was a long time employee of Morrison Appraisal where she spent 34 years doing what she loved

A funeral service to celebrate the life of Dawn will be 11AM Saturday, June 24, 2017 at the Fairfield Community Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Marshville City Cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church's fellowship building.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by a daughter, Ashley Merritt (Marshall Keziah) of Monroe; sons, Travis (Casey) Merritt of Monroe and Austin Merritt of Monroe; brother, Mark (Angela) Griffin of Marshville and a sister Kim (Wendell) Mullis of Red Cross, NC; step grandson, Hunter Odom; one niece and four nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Scholarship fund for her son Austin, c/o Ashley Merritt, 4111 Sincerity Road, Monroe, NC  28110.
