Albemarle – Mrs. Deborah Kay Edwards, 66, formerly of Marshville, passed away Friday, September 22, 2023 at home surrounded by family.  Born June 8, 1957 in Union County, she was a daughter of the late Melvin Earl Edwards and Sarah Kathryn Thompson Edwards. She was also preceded in death by siblings, Michael and Randy Edwards, Kathy Cannon and Linda Wortman.

A funeral service to celebrate the life of Deborah will be 11 AM, September 26, 2023 from the graveside of Wingate City Cemetery.  The family will receive friends following by the graveside.

Those left to cherish her memory include sons, Sammy Strawn (Stephanie) and Danny Wayne Burgess, Jr.; daughter, Kathryn Elizabeth Godwin; grandchildren, Hanna Strawn, Joshua Strawn (Brittney), Brooke Godwin, Dalton Godwin and Hailee Godwin; great-grandchild, Bishop Godwin, Zealand Clyburn and Ma'rayah Godwin; siblings, Melvin Edwards, Terry Edwards, Robin Watts, Tracy Strawn and Jeff Edwards.
