Mrs. Dianne Lee Groves-Atkinson, 61, of Morven, NC passed through the gates of heaven with her guardian angels on Thursday, May 23, 2013. Her smile and gentle demenor will be misssed by all her family, associates and loving friends. She will be laid to rest in Eastview Cemetary in Wadesboro, NC on Sunday, June 2, 2013, at 2 p.m. Those services will be immediately followed by a small memorial service. Funeral arrangements are being taken care of by Morgan and Sons of Marshville, NC. Dianne was born on October 5, 1951, in Mecklenbury county. She was the daughter of the late Paul Lee Groves and Mildred Thomas Groves. She was a graduate of North Mecklenburg High School and an Alumni of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She was a person of many talents and awards. Most of Dianneâ??s career was spent in the long-term care pharmacy business where she worked for many years as a medical records specialist and advisor. Later in life she became a real estate broker, auctioneer and ISA appraiser. She was the co-owner of AMC Auctions of Concord, NC and Atkinson Auctions of Morven. She was also the supervising office manager for Classic Auctions of Locust, NC. Furthermore, Dianne was a firm believer in people's rights. She demonstrated this by advocating for the citizens of Morven while serving as a trusted board and committee member of various town projects. While she was always busy with her career Dianne still managed to have time for her many hobbies and interests. She was a certified master gardner, master quilter, porcelain doll maker, cookbook collector and a lover of many, many crafts. She left behind her husband Ben Atkinson of Morven; two daughters, Star Everts (Scott) of Marshville and Kesha Mercer (Chris) of Morven; grandchildren Benjamin Poston, Joshua Everts and Jacklyn Mercer; and her brother John Groves (Joann) and their two sons Paul and Will Groves of Peachland
