Monroe- Mr. Donny B. Kirk, 82, passed away on July 20 ^th , 2020 at his residence.  He was born in Union County on January 31, 1938.  He was preceded in death by his mother Mrs. Dorothy May Kirk and his grandmother Lucy Dabbs Carpenter. He was the retired owner and operator of Kirk Trucking Company Inc.  He was also a veteran of the US Navy.

Donny was a loving son, father, and grandfather. He loved the outdoors and traveling.  In his lifetime he has lived in California, Nebraska and North Carolina and has visited many places in between.  He enjoyed spending quiet time out at the barn with his horses.  Donny also took pleasure in jumping on his motorcycle and taking a joy ride on a beautiful day.  Guns were another one of his passions; he enjoyed loading his own ammunition and then going out to take a little target practice.  Although he was a strong, stern man, Donny still had a tender heart and even loved all his little fur babies.  His biggest joy was his grandchildren, he loved them dearly and was so proud of them.

Memorial Services will be 1pm Saturday in the Chapel of Morgan & Son.  The family will greet friends following the service.

He is survived by his fiancée Cheryl Morrison of Monroe.  His three children: Mr. Scott Kirk of Nebraska, Ms. Staci Scoggins of Dallas, NC, Ms. Donelle Kirk and the mother of his children, Janet Kirk, both of Nebraska. His grandchildren: Kathy Ann Kirk, Kaylee Kirk, Seth Scoggins, Kirk Scoggins, Devin Gieselman, Brantson Gieselman and Dalton Gieselman.
