Dr. Tommy L. Butler, 75, passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at First Health Hospital in Rockingham, NC. Born July 26, 1951, in Richmond County, he was the son of the late Silas and Cora Lilly Butler. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Gladys B. Butler and Tonda S. Sanford and by siblings, Richard and John ButlerDr. Butler served many churches during his life most notable were 25 years at New Hope Baptist and Bethel Baptist for the last 6 years.

Funeral services will be 11AM Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at New Hope Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends from 10-10:45 prior to the service on Tuesday.

Those left to cherish his memory include a son, Samuel Butler; stepdaughter, Robin Sanford Chavis (Chris); step grandchildren, Brayden Sanford (Lanie) and Baley Chavis; sister, Sandra Lilly; brother-in-law, Mike Bowman; sister-in-law, Darlene Bowman; mother-in-law, Maie Bowman; aunt, Gloria Butler; countless church members, all loved and considered family.
