Mr. Duane Helms, 83, passed away Thursday, March 8, 2018 at his home in Peachland. Born January 5, 1935 in Union County, he was a son of the late Clonnie Ray Helms and Ivah Kate Swanner Helms. He was also preceded in death by his 1st wife, Hettie Taylor Helms.
A funeral service to celebrate the life of Duane will be held 2PM Saturday at Mt. Olive Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the committal in the church.
Mr. Helms is survived by his wife of 40 years Pat Helms; daughter, Robin Helms Creasman and her husband Thomas of Marshville; step-daughter, Barbara Nance Mayton and her husband Robert of Albemarle; step-son, Joe Nance and fiancée Terry Carroll of Swansboro, NC; brother, Brack Helms and his wife Doris of Peachland; sister, Marilene H. Gaye of Marshville; grandchildren, Joseph Nance, Andrew Mayton and his wife Amy, Elizabeth M. Laws and her husband Derek, great-grandchildren, Emily Mayton and Ava Laws; step children from his first marriage, Judy Allen and Jim Smith both from Marshville.
