Charlotte – Mr. Edsel Barbee, 88, of Charlotte passed away January 26, 2016 surrounded by family at Carolinas Medical Center. He was born in Anson County, June 2, 1927, son of Newton and Frances Barbee. He was preceded in death by a son, Keith in 1979. Edsel was happily married to his wife, enjoyed going to Sunday morning church services and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Margie Ashcraft Barbee, sons Eddie and Donnie, 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2 PM Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Gilboa United Methodist Church, 5515 Gilboa Road, Marshville, NC with burial to follow in the Marshville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 PM to service time on Saturday in the church's fellowship building.
