Through faith, Mrs. Elaine Edwards Horne, 71, overcame the trials of this life and began her heavenly journey on Saturday, December 29, 2018. A celebration of her life will be held at Harmony Community Church on Wednesday, January 2, 2019. The family will greet friends from 1 pm until 2:30 pm, with the service following at 3 pm. Interment will follow in the Horne Family Cemetery.
Born in Union County on December 16, 1947, to Essie Mae Carelock Edwards and the late Seaborn Edwards, Elaine was a retired nurse and is survived by her husband of 49 years, Mr. Delane Horne, of the home. Also surviving are their children, Mr. Chris Horne with his wife Caryn of Peachland, and Mr. Dusty Horne with his wife Mandy of Marshville. Elaine's greatest joy was spending time with and caring for her beloved grandchildren, Caleb, Cassidy, Courtney, Morgan, Dylan, Gracie, Taylor, Cooper, and Scarlett. Also, surviving are brothers Allen Edwards and his wife Robin, Todd Edwards, and sister Tonya Edwards, all of Monroe, along with numerous nephews, nieces and cousins who loved her dearly.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Gregory Brouse and staff, as well as the physicians, nurses, and other staff at Atrium Health Anson, for their compassionate care and love during her illness.
The family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or to Harmony Community Church.
