Ellie Horne Collins, 93, of Marshville, passed away November the 11th, 2019 at Hospice of Union County.
Born March 20, 1926, in Peachland, she was the daughter of the late Millard Wheeler and Minnie Billingsley Horne. She is preceded in death by her husband of over 42 years, Robert Harold Collins and her nine siblings.
A funeral service to celebrate the life of Ellie will be held at Austin Grove Baptist Church of Marshville, NC at 11am Thursday the 14th of November, 2019. The family will gather in the sanctuary one hour prior to the service.
Ellie is survived by her son Bobby (Debbie) Collins of Marshville, three grandchildren Brad (Sharon) Collins of Unionville, Russ (Regina) Collins of Marshville, and Jaclyn (Adam) Sturgis of Concord. She had 6 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren along with many loving family and friends that blessed her life immensely.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Hospice of Union County, 700 Roosevelt Blvd. W., Monroe, NC, 28112, for the purchase of veteran blankets.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Beddie Tarlton of Stanfield and Susan Hunt of Monroe for their dedication in providing care for "Ma Ma". Special thanks to Hospice of Union County for their support in her final days along with the Union County Veteran Service Office and Union County Council on Aging (Lucy & Lauren). All were truly a blessing to Ellie and her family on her journey home.
