Monroe – Ernest Neal Godwin, 57 of Monroe died Sunday evening, April 12, 2015 at his home. Born February 22, 1958 in Anson County, he was a son of Gladys Edwards Godwin and the late McClain "Buck" Godwin.

He was a faithful member at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where he loyally served the Lord as Sunday School director, chief usher for over 20 years and a Sunday School teacher. Those that are closest to his heart were the Elderly in his Church. His passion was to make them feel loved and visiting those that couldn't get out. He dedicated most of his life to helping others including caring for and helping his parents.
Ernie's favorite pastime was Tennis, gardening and working in the yard. He finally tied the knot at 53 years old and was a loving husband for 31/2 years to his wife, Sherry.
Ernie's greatest desire, while battling cancer, was for God to use him to impact his world with the Gospel of Christ and leave others wanting more of Jesus.
