Marshville – Mrs. Eugenia Marze Smith, 94, passed away Thursday, July 21, 2022 at Brookdale Assisted Living.  Born July 26, 1927 in Union County, she was a daughter of the late Stephen Alexander Marze and Lessie Allen Marze.  She was also preceded in death by her husband of 62 years Zeb Smith and her son Stephen Smith in 2014.

Eugenia was a homemaker and a wonderful cook. In addition, she also made many beautiful quilts.  She and Zeb enjoyed growing produce and selling it at the Union County Farmer's Market.  Her family remembers her as an intelligent, hard-working, and kind Christian lady.

She was a resident of Brookdale/Monroe Square for the past 9 years. The family would like to thank the staff, residents and visitors for making her days brighter.

A funeral service to celebrate the life of Eugenia will be 11 AM, Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at Philadelphia Baptist Church.  Burial will be private.  If you would like to pay your respects to the Smith family, Mrs. Smith will be open for viewing on Monday from 1-4 at the funeral home.  The family will not be present.

Those left behind to cherish dear memories of her include her daughter-in-law, Kay Smith, grandchildren, Mindy Smith Stegall and husband Randy, Brandon Smith and wife Amy and Lori Smith Powell and husband Christopher; great-grandchildren, David Stegall, Emily Stegall, Madison Smith, Elizabeth Smith, Emelia Powell and Ellie Powell.

The family suggests memorials to be made to the Philadelphia Baptist Church, 5709 Philadelphia Church Road, Marshville, NC  28103.
