Mrs. Florence Meggs Huneycutt 92, passed away on February the 15th, 2018 at Life Care of Copper Basin in Ducktown, Tn.. She was born on February 26, 1925 to the late James Weaver and Dezzie Birmingham Meggs. Following her retirement as an insurance agent she returned to the family's farmland and built a home with her husband Rev. Daniel Huneycutt where they lived for 35 years. She was a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and later received her B.A. of Art Education at East Carolina University. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 75 years, Rev. Daniel Huneycutt, her son Daniel Edward Huneycutt, Jr.,and her siblings: Fordham Meggs, Linday Smith, Julia Belle Godwin, J.W. Meggs, Rachel Davis, and Martha Baucom.
Funeral Services will be 2pm Tuesday the 20th of February, 2018 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends following the services.
She is survived by three daughters: Margaret Huneycutt Cochran and her husband Steve of Pinehurst, NC; Carolyne Huneycutt Prefer of Charlotte, NC; and Lynday Huneycutt and her husband Charles Watson of Brasstown, NC; son, James Robert Huneycutt and his wife Sharon of Nashville, NC, grandchildren: Daniel, Timothy and Stacey Cochran; Alexis Seven Klebanov; James R. II, Olivia M. and Greyson M. Huneycutt; and six great grandchildren; siblings, Bernice Brewer of Woodruff, SC, Janis Carroll of Wilmington, Kathryn Edwards of Marshville.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial be made to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 7002 Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Road, Marshville, NC 28103.
