Frances
Griffin
Aug 18, 1930 — Aug 5, 2024
Marshville – Mrs. Frances Tucker Griffin, 93, passed away Monday, August 5, 2024, at Brookdale Assisted Living in Monroe. Born August 18, 1930, in Anson County, she was a daughter of the late Hoyle Tucker and Lois Tarleton Tucker. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Griffin and siblings, Fred and Joe Tucker and Margaret Brewer.
Frances went to Marshville High School and Wingate College where she graduated with her associate's degree in accounting. Following college, she went to work for the Coca-Cola Bottling Company in Monroe, North Carolina, where she worked for 34 years. Frances made it clear that Coca-Cola would always be better than Pepsi and you could find fun Coca-Cola trinkets all around her house, especially on her Christmas Tree. When she was 18, she married the love of her life, Frederick Griffin, and they settled down in Marshville, North Carolina, where they married for 62 years when Frederick passed away. They raised their 3 children and what would grow to be 10 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Fredrick and Frances began attending Marshville United Methodist Church following their marriage and continued as faithful members there for the rest of their days. Following her time with Coca-Cola, Frances went on to work at the Union County Clerk of Court's office for twelve years. She loved to talk about all of the judges and attorneys she worked with over the years and always spoke fondly of her time there. Following her retirement from the Clerk's Office, Frances went to work on the family farm with Fredrick where they would raise cows, chickens, and various crops over the years. The Farm became a special place to the family and was somewhere Frances was proud to be. In her later years, Frances stayed on the go, spending time with friends and family, often seen having her daily breakfast at Bojangles, and serving at the Marshville Museum and on the Town of Marshville Planning Board. She loved to knit and share her creations with everyone around her. Frances also enjoyed watching the Wingate University Women's Basketball Team because it reminded her of her time playing in high school. Frances was well loved by her family and her community, and both will greatly miss her.
A funeral service to celebrate the life of Frances will be 2 PM, Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at Marshville United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the Marshville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5-7 PM at Morgan & Son Funeral Home.

Little (Reggie); grandchildren, Lindsay Brod (Jake), Fran Roldan, Houston Griffin, Tyler Parker (Ashley) & Logan Donald (Josh), Buck Little (Ashton), Lauren Little Kiser (Kyle), Jordan Griffin Rowell (Spencer), Alexandra Griffin, Matthew Griffin; great-grandchildren: Zachary Griffin, Berklie and Audrey Brod, Garrett, Scarlett and Graylen Roldan, Brecken and River Griffin, Kaden Sims, Kason and Hadley Little, Knox and Beau Kiser, Brooks and Blake Rowell, Luke Donald.
