Marshville - Frances Barbee Baucom Helms went home to be with her Lord and Savior at age 94 on May 20.   She was born in Stanly County to the late John Lawson Barbee and Carrie Mae Kennedy Barbee. She was also preceded in death by siblings, Jerry Barbee, Merlin Barbee and Bennie Ruth Thomas.

She was an active member at New Hope Baptist Church until her stroke in 2017. She was very accomplished seamstress and loved to quilt.   Many family members received the treasure of her labor.   She was dedicated to visiting people in the nursing home and loved meeting every Tuesday with her church ladies to make dolls for the Christian organization. She has faced sadness along her journey of life with the loss of her first husband, Reece Jackson Baucom in 1970, her second husband, Robert Lee Helms in 2016 and the passing of both her sons, Dwayne Baucom and Randy Baucom in 2018. The love of her life was all the grandchildren and great grandchildren that come from blended families. Her faith in Christ kept her strong through the many trials of life and until he carried her home.

She is survived by daughter-in-law, Susan Baucom, stepson, Phil Helms (Nancy); stepdaughters, Lynn Helms (Mike), and Janet Robinson; grandchildren, Dusty Crook (Perry), Tammy Cozad (Chad), Michael Baucom (Missy) and Chris Baucom (Lisa); step grandchildren, Felicia Jacobs (Luke), Muriel Frazier (Jason), Marcia Stegall (Cam), Amanda  Griffin (Jason), and Sheena Cantrell; two loving sisters, Andria Coble (Tony) and Kay Chaney (Robert); 18 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Funeral services will be private.
