Peachland - Mrs. Frances Mauney, 88, passed away March 18, 2024 at Hospice House, Monroe surrounded by her children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, only three short months ago.  Born August 27, 1935 in Anson County, she was the daughter of the late Earl "Buck" Edwards and Inez Gaddy Edwards. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Edsel.

Frances graduated from Burnsville High School and Kings Business College in Charlotte. She worked at Household Distributors in Charlotte before meeting Charles. After her marriage, she became a full-time wife and mother. Frances truly had a servant's heart, and she cared for her home, Charles, and her two children. She also tirelessly took care of her parents in their aging years and helped run "Buck's Store". She was a member of New Home Baptist Church where she taught children in Sunday School and VBS. She also helped organize many Christmas plays and Easter egg hunts, and served on the food committee. She loved the community and got joy in sending cards to friends near and far. She also enjoyed playing the piano. Frances was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and she will be greatly missed.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children Kerry Mauney and Cindy Hatchell (Bruce); grandchildren Zachary Mauney, Brianna Nielsen (Bryce), Sophie Hatchell and Chrissy Hatchell.

A funeral service to celebrate the life of Frances will be 11 AM, Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at New Home Baptist Church and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 10 – 10:45 in the fellowship building.
