Peachland – formerly of Herkimer, NY, Mr. Gary Daniel Austin, 59, passed away Thursday, October 14, 2021 at Atrium Health – Cabarrus.  Born August 4, 1962 in Herkimer County, NY he was a son of the late Elwood Austin, Sr. and Ann Reardon Austin.  He was also preceded in death by his partner, Elnora Brado.

Gary attended grade school in Little Falls, NY and High school in Herkimer, NY. Gary worked in construction his entire life and was always known for helping anyone in need. He will be greatly missed as a father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Gary was a loving soul and the family and friends ask you come and celebrate a life dedicated to family, friends and hard work.

A celebration and memorial for Gary will be held at his home, 696 Carpenter Horne Rd in Peachland, NC at 2 PM, Saturday, November 6, 2021.

A graveside service will be held on November 9, 2021 at 11am, at the Mohawk Cemetery, Columbia St (Route 28), Mohawk, NY with a celebration of life to be held at the Little Falls American Legion post 31 at 2pm.

Gary is survived by siblings, Elwood Ned Austin, Jr. and Patricia Hall of Fairfield, NY, Wendy and Russell Luft, Jr. of Eagle River, AK, Tina Austin and Larry "Juno" Sanders, Jr., of Oppenheim, NY, Connie and Michael "Mick" DeRocco of Reno NV, Lisa and George Siver of St. Johnsville, NY and Todd Austin and Vicky Battisti of St. Johnsville, NY; He didn't have any biological children, yet he raise 3 children, George Brado and his wife Bonnie from Ingham Mills, NY, DJ Brado and his wife Shaila, West Windfield, NY and Brandy Burgess and her husband Glenn of Patrick, SC; special grandchildren, Daniel, Tyler, Andrew, Jenna, Dylan, Leland, Ellie, Audrey Brado, Ashley, Alissa and Alivia Burgess. 2 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
