Marshville – Mrs. Geneva Melia Nance Helms, 93, died Friday at Hospice House in Monroe. Born March 20, 1921 in Union County, she was a daughter of the late John David and Esther Edwards Nance. She was also preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Amanda Brooke Helms and 6 brothers and 7 sisters.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Geneva will be held at 2 pm Monday at the Chapel of Morgan & Son Funeral Home with burial to follow in the New Home Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 4:30 – 6pm at the funeral home.
Mrs. Helms is survived by her husband Gradon of the home; son, J. Hugh Helms and his wife Frances of Monroe; daughters, Janet Edwards and her husband Ronnie of Monroe and Rita Freeman and her husband Richard of Marshville; sister, Velma Nance Freeman of Monroe; 7 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
