Mrs. Geraldine "Dean" Helms Griffin, 68, of Marshville, passed away Friday evening at the Hospice House in Monroe. Born May 28, 1949 in Union County, she was a daughter of the late John Horace and Minnie Odessa Brown Helms. She was also preceded in death by siblings Fletcher Helms, Jr. and Mildred "Mickey" Lowder. She was a loving wife, mother, sibling, grandmother and friend. It was her passion to love each person unconditionally.
The family will have a day of remembrance for Dean on Tuesday from 9 am until 4 pm at Morgan & Son Funeral Home for friends and family to pay their respect.
Dean is survived by her husband of 34 years, Tommy Griffin of the home; children, Kathy Smith, Johnny and Betty Joe Sims, Patricia and Todd Brookhart; grandchildren, Jarmey Sims and Siearra Deese, Johnny Lee Sims, Katisha Oxidine, Mark Sells, Jr. and Brittany Templin Sells; great grandchildren, Keya Sistar, Kelee Edwards and Landon Sells. Siblings, Clarence E. Helms and his wife Lorraine, Shirley Griffin and her husband Earl, and Carolyn Philemon and her husband Jerry.
The family suggests memorials made to the Hospice of Union County, 700 West Roosevelt Blvd, Monroe, NC 28112.
