Peachland- Mrs. Geraldine Pope, 86 of Peachland, passed away, Tuesday, May 21, 2024, surrounded by family.  Born March 7, 1938, in Stanly County, she was a daughter of the late Floyd Eli Huneycutt, Sr. and Bertie Smith Huneycutt.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Francis Sim Pope, siblings, Helen Crisco, Rachel Hinson, Clinton Huneycutt, Milas Huneycutt, Earl Huneycutt, Floyd Huneycutt, Jr., Pruette Honeycutt and a grandson, Matthew Layton.

She was a 68-year member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher, WMU Director and church clerk.  Her Christian faith in our Lord was evident in her generosity to all she knew.  She loved to bake cookies for the Kairos prison ministry, spending time with her family and passing on her knowledge.

The family will receive friends from 10-10:45 AM on Monday, May 27, 2024, at the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.  A funeral service to celebrate the life of Geraldine will be 11 AM at the church and burial in the church cemetery.

Those left to cherish her memory include a son, Randy Pope (Cynthia); daughter, Anita Layton (David); grandchildren, Jonathan Pope, Jinna Morgan (Blake), Andrew Layton (Camryn) and Aaron Layton (Fiancé, Bailey); sister-in-law, Evelyn Godwin.

The family requests that memorials be made to Kairos of South Carolina, PO Box 121, Peachland, NC  28133.  The family would like to thank all her health care workers and friends for their loving support during her last several years.
