Dateline - Marshville Mr. Harold George Thomas, 88, of Marshville died Saturday, May 24, 2014 at Autumn Care of Marshville. Born November 27, 1925 in Anson County, he was a son of the late Brackey Floyd and Bessie Edwards Thomas. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Edsel Thomas. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 am from the Olive Branch Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday one hour prior to the service in the church sanctuary. Mr. Thomas is survived by his wife Christine Helms Thomas of the home; daughter, Sandra Thomas McCollum of Marshville; brother, Kermit Thomas and his wife Martha of Marshville; sisters, Mary Smith of Marshville, Louise Wherry of Charlotte and Carolyn DeMart of Davidson, NC; 2 grandchildren, Michael McCollum and his wife Gretchen of Marshville and Douglas McCollum and his wife Ariel of Mint Hill and one great grandchild, Dorian McCollum. The family suggests memorials made to the Olive Branch Baptist Church Cemetery, 8804 Hwy 218 East, Marshville, NC 28103. The Morgan & Son Funeral Home is serving the family of Mr. Thomas.
