Wingate – Mrs. Jewel "Jackie" M. Byrd, 91, passed away, Thursday, November 25, 2021, at her home.  Born June 29, 1930, in Wadeville, NC, she was the daughter of the late Murphy Asbury McRae and Sally Deberry McRae.  She was also preceded in death by her husband Rev. Robert T. Byrd.

A funeral service to celebrate the life of Jackie will be 4 PM Sunday, November 28, 2021, at Austin Grove Baptist Church.  The burial will be 1 PM Sunday at Wadeville Baptist Church in Mt. Gilead, NC, 144 Shoe Factory Road.

If you would like to pay respects to the family, Mrs. Byrd will be lying in state at the funeral home on Saturday evening from 5-7 PM.

Survivors include her son, Rev. Barry L. Byrd (Annette); daughter, Wanda B. Denton (Tony); grandchildren, Timothy Denton, Amber Johnson (Kelly), Jonathan Byrd (Anne), Abby Evans (Josh), Jennifer Williams (Chad) and Katy Harry (Delon); 15 great-grandchildren; brother, Shorty McRae (Mildred).

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Outreach Ministries of Austin Grove Baptist Church, 5919 Austin Grove Church Road, Marshville, NC  28103.
