Peachland – Mr. James M. Godwin, 81, died Saturday, February 14, 2015 at the Hospice House in Monroe. Born June 8, 1933 in Stanly County he was a son of the late Albert and Lizzie Hinson Godwin. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Reece and Curtis Lee Godwin.
A funeral service to celebrate the life of James will be held Monday at 2PM from the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with burial following in the church's cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 5 to 7pm at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife Evelyn P. Godwin of the home; son, Tommy J. Godwin and his wife Penny of Peachland; daughter, Susan Henry and her husband Robbie of Lilesville; brothers, John Godwin of Locust, Gerald Godwin of Oakboro and Ervin Godwin of Mocksville; 3 grandchildren, Jamie Henry and his wife Amanda, Kristie Goodwin and her husband Travis and Brandon Godwin; 4 great grandchildren, Gretchen and Gracelynn Henry, Landis and Payson Goodwin.
