Mr. James Layton High, 89, passed away Friday, December 22, 2017 at Pruitt Health in Monroe. Mr. High was born in Anson County on June 10, 1928, the second of five sons born to Lonnie and Lessie High. He graduated from Peachland High School and then immediately enlisted in the US Army and served in the Korean War and was stationed in Germany. Upon his return, he managed several retail auto parts stores before settling down to his long tenure in the office of R H Bouligny, Inc/ Rowe, Inc. as an accountant. His son, Ronald High passed away in 1993. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Bud and Fred High and an infant brother.
A funeral service to celebrate the life of Layton will be 11 am Wednesday December 27, 2017 in the chapel of Morgan & Son Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Marshville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the graveside services.
Mr. High is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Louise Mills High; daughters, Sue Rasti and husband Shahram of Charlotte and Brenda High of Marshville; grandchildren, Reza Rasti and his fiancée Jessica Brockman of Nashville, TN, Mina Rasti and Amir Rasti of Charlotte, and his brothers, Ben High (Elizabeth) and Roy High (Joyce).
The family asks that memorials be considered in his memory to Union County Residential Services, PO Box 946, Monroe, NC 28111-0946 for the Stewart Street Group Home.
