Marshville – James "Jim" Efird Rowell, 63, passed away Thursday at CMC-Main in Charlotte.   Born September 28, 1957 in Cabarrus County, NC, he was a son of the late Efird James Rowell and Mary Jeanette Rowell. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Rowell.

Jim served in the United States Army where his love for his Country and enormous respect for the American flag and what it stood for. Jim spent his career as an officer for the Department of Corrections. He was also a member of SEANC where he once served as a State Parliamentarian. Jim was incredibly involved in and loved the town of Marshville where he was a previous town council member. Jim also enjoyed meeting his breakfast buddies at the Wagon Wheel in Marshville.

Funeral services will be private.

Mr. Rowell is survived by his son, Jason Rowell and his wife Tasha Rowell; the love of his life and companion Linda Williams, her daughter Arim Hicks and her husband Dave Hicks; sister Patty Benton and her husband Rick Benton; grandchildren, Weston Rowell, Ella Rowell, Owen Hicks, Maddie Hicks, Sam Hicks; several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to a Veterans Memorial Fund set up by the family to be used to honor Veterans with hopes of setting up a Flag Display in the town of Marshville. A link to the fund is provided below:
