Wingate – Mr. James Leonard Smith, 82, passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2023.  Born June 6, 1941 in Mecklenburg County, he was a son of the late Carl James Smith and Bernice Scott Smith.

Funeral services will be private

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 59 years, Doris Roberts Smith; son, James Michael Smith; daughter, Mercadies Hamilton; grandchildren, Kristen Smith and Elliot Pietrowski; sister-in-law, Pat Edwards; many friends and family.

The family would like to express a special thank you for the staff of Hospice House of Union County for their loving care during his last few weeks.
