Rockingham – Wilma Eugenia "Jean" Ross Newberry, 75 passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at First Health Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.  Born April 9, 1948, in West Virgina, she was a daughter of the late Elon Freeman Ross and Hilda Proctor Ross. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Ross Davidson.

Jean served in the medical field for 30 years. She and her husband Jerry traveled extensively to 49 states and Canada.  She had a great love for animals, especially her cats.

A funeral service to celebrate the life of Jean will be 11 Am Friday, February 9, 2024, from the graveside of Marshville City Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Friday from 10-10:45 at Morgan & Son Funeral Home.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband Jerry L. Newberry; son, Wes Newberry (Nickie); sisters, Lorena Ann Ross Krammerer and Robin Ross Davis (Robert); nephew, Arnold "Dowd" M. Hilton III (Sheila); nieces, Makayla Ann Hilton, Hayden Alivia Hilton, Serina Jean League and Cheryl A. Jordan (Rae).

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Rockingham Humane Society, 205 Boone Road, Eden, NC 27288.
