Jean W.
Williams
May 4, 1937 — Dec 21, 2016
Marshville
Jean Williams Williams, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, age 79, went to be with the Lord after resting at the Hospice House of Union County surrounded by people who loved and cherished her. From her birth on May 4, 1937 to Floyd and Elizabeth Williams of Marshville, NC. until her death she made people feel special with her gracious hospitality. Rarely did you leave her home with an empty stomach. She always seemed to have a pound cake, a pie or brownies fresh out of the oven. Jean graduated from Marshville High School as the class Valedictorian in 1955. She was encouraged to continue her education but Jean knew from a young age that her greatest desire was to be a wife and mother. On November 3, 1956, she married the love of her life, Kenneth Williams, also of Marshville. They began a journey together that would take them from Marshville to Charlotte, Albany, NY, Memphis, TN, Chicago, IL and back to Charlotte. Upon Ken's retirement, they moved back to the town where it all began, Marshville. Their lives together have been enriched by children, grandchildren, city-living, country-living, faith in Jesus and friends that have stood the test of time.
Jean is survived by her husband of 60 years, Kenneth Williams, 3 children, Beth Williams Oakes (Philip Oakes), Sally Williams Cavenaugh (Herb Cavenaugh) and Doug Williams (Holly Williams), and 11 grandchildren, Caleb Oakes, Hannah Oakes, Cody Cavenaugh, Brad Cavenaugh, Kate Cavenaugh, Max Williams, Ben Williams, Ian Williams, Eli Williams, Haley Williams and Kinley Jean Williams.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 on Dec. 27 at Lee Park Baptist Church with Pastor Chris Justice and Rev. Ed Hennegar officiating. Burial will follow at Fairfield Community Baptist Church. The family will greet friends from 1:00-2:00 preceding the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the paving of the parking lot at Lee Park Baptist Church, 2505 Morgan Mill Rd., Monroe, NC 28110 or Hospice of Union County, 700 Roosevelt Blvd. W., Monroe, NC 28110
