Obituary

Marshville – Mr. Jerry Lamar Preslar, 74, passed away Sunday, February 26, 2023 at Atrium Health – Union.  Born July 11, 1948 in Anson County, NC, he was a son of the late James Roy Preslar and Nellie Louise Lee Preslar. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Keith Preslar.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Jerry will be 11 AM Thursday, March 2, 2023 from the chapel of Morgan & Son Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the chapel.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving partner of 34 years, Sue Ratliff; daughters, Terri Preslar Ferguson (Scott) and Catherine Brooke Preslar; Sue's daughters, Nicole Crawford (David) and Amy Little (Matt); Sue and Jerry's five grandchildren, William, Paxson and Zachary Crawford, Jett, and Steely Little: great-grandaughter, Aria Little; siblings, Gary Preslar, Elwood Preslar (Janet) and Brenda Frick.

Jerry served in the US Army from 1968 to 1974 and continued to love and honor his country throughout his life.  He and his siblings were close and loved to joke around and laugh together.  Jerry served his community as a member of the Jaycees, a devoted member of East Campus Baptist Church and in his younger days, coaching many years of little league baseball in Marshville.  He lived life to the fullest and enjoyed many hobbies including golf, hunting, and fishing with his buddies and more recently enjoying a nice relaxing meal on Sue's patio and petting their beloved dog, Abbey.  As a man of faith, Jerry was a gentle, calm soul who never met a stranger and always greeted you with a smile.  Jerry will be missed by so many whose lives he touched and were forever changed by knowing him.
