Mr. James Norfleet "Jimmy" Edwards, 78, of Marshville passed away Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at his home. Born May 15, 1945, he was a son of the late Troy Lee Edwards and Fern Helms Edwards. He was preceded in death by a brother, Erwin Edwards, sister-in-law, Mary Lois W. Edwards and a nephew, Brian Ward Edwards.
Jimmy retired from Windstream after 43 years of service. He was a lifetime member of New Home Baptist Church where he served as Deacon for over 50 years, served on many leadership committees, enjoyed going on mission trips and helping others in need. Jimmy loved his church. Jimmy loved the outdoors, and you could find him on his tractor almost every day. He enjoyed spending time with his grandsons and taught them so many things. He set a good example as a Christian man to them and many people that he met. He enjoyed working making items out of wood and restoring old guns.
Jimmy will be greatly missed by so many. He and Bonnie enjoyed beach time, traveling, gardening, spending time on ball field with grandsons, helping friends and family. Jimmy always praised God for allowing him the opportunity to serve Him, to help others, be active and to bless others.
A funeral service to celebrate the life of Jimmy will be 2 PM Sunday, September 17, 2023 at New Home Baptist Church with burial to follow in church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5-7 PM at Morgan & Son Funeral Home.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 57 years, Bonnie Nance Edwards; daughter, Sheiwa (Josh) Bednarik, grandsons, Andrew, Cameron and Logan Bednarik; siblings, Peggy Ross, Patricia Edwards (Tish), and Linda Pate (Tommy); nephew, Neil Beachum, niece, Jeanel R. Dennis (Allan); great niece, Jodi Jolly (Ben); great-great niece, Lily; great-great nephews, Jack, Shep and Beau Jolly.
