Obituary

Mr. Joe Harris Pierce, 82, passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at Novant Matthews Medical Center.  Born December 23, 1941, in Mecklenburg County, he was a son of the late Joe Bunyan Pierce and Doris Harris Pierce. He was also preceded in death by his son, Marc Pierce.

A Charlotte native, Joe Pierce built a life with his forever love in Marshville, North Carolina. Joe and Jonnie met at Unionville High School as young adults and were married soon after graduating. Joe served two years in the United States Army including time spent in Okinawa with Jonnie by his side. Joe was a poultry farmer throughout his life and managed various livestock. He was a devoted father, willing and able to help his children with anything they needed. He was a "Pop" to seven grandchildren that he loved dearly. Joe was a part of various social groups including his life group, American Legion, quartet singing group, and an unofficial breakfast club that met at Bojangles most every morning. He was a lifelong church member and enjoyed singing in the choir in his earlier years. Joe thoroughly enjoyed Sunday lunches with his family. You often would hear him say "It's been a good day" upon dispersing. He would never miss a family gathering, especially one that involved food. Joe loved animals, especially horses and enjoyed horseback trail riding with friends. He had many dogs throughout his life, yard chickens, and pigeons that he took vast pride in taking care of. Joe was one of a kind. He was a true friend and a friend to all. A loving husband, unwavering father, and the best "Pop".

A funeral service to celebrate the life of Joe will be 2 PM, Monday, October 21, 2024, from East Campus – First Baptist Church of Indian Trail with burial to follow in Faulks Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends Sunday from 5-7 pm at Morgan & Son Funeral Home.
