Peachland – Mr. John Smith, 80, passed away Tuesday August 9, 2022 at the Hospice House in Monroe.  Born May 8, 1942 in Anson County, NC, he was a son of the late David Victor Smith and Frances Braswell Smith.  He was also preceded in death by a beloved son, John "Mark" Smith and siblings, DV Smith, Jr., Lamar Smith, Vernell Helms, Stella Griffin and Barbara Godwin.

John loved the outdoors, golf, his precious grand girls and especially his newest great granddaughter, Tilly.  He was a member of Hopewell Baptist church.

A graveside service to celebrate the life of John will be 10 AM Friday, August 12, 2022 at the Fountain Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends following in the Fountain Hill UMC fellowship building.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 58 years, Brenda Mitchum Smith; daughter, Amy Smith McCollum (Joey); granddaughters, Anna McCollum Branton (Brett), Sarah McCollum and Megan Smith; great granddaughter, Tilly Brooke Branton; and a sister, Doris Smith Quinn (Tom).

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Hospice of Union County or Fountain Hill UMC Cemetery fund.
