John
White
Dec 13, 1933 — Mar 10, 2026
John "PawPaw" Frazier White, age 92, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2026. He was born on December 13, 1933, to the late Floyd and Elizabeth White of Tazewell, Virginia.
John was married for 50 years to his beloved wife, Gloris Smith White, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Cheryl Robinson, and six siblings.
He is survived by his loving family, including his sister, Linda White of Disputanta, VA; his children, Lorrie Blevins of Marshville, NC, and Martin White (Cheryl) of Greensboro, NC; and his cherished grandchildren, Jacob Robinson of Charleston, SC, Joshua Blevins of Marshville, NC, Michael Van Dyke (Katie) of Greensboro, Jessica Spradlin (Jason) of Greensboro, and Casey White (Shanon) of Eden, NC. He also leaves behind eleven great grandchildren who brought him great joy.
John proudly served his country as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War, having enlisted at a young age after telling a small "white lie" about his age, driven by a deep sense of duty and patriotism. Following his military service, he returned home to complete his high school education and went on to build a long and dedicated career with the North Carolina Department of Transportation as a Materials and Testing Technician, where he eventually retired.
John found joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved being outdoors and gardening, reading sci-fi and Western novels, had a well known habit of denying his fondness for sweets, enjoyed watching MTV's Ridiculousness, and was known for his hearty, contagious laughter that could fill a room.
John will be remembered for his strength, resilience, humor, and unwavering love for his family. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched.
A graveside service will be held Friday, March 27th, at 1:00 PM, at Grandview Memorial Garden in Bluefield, VA.
Memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in his honor.
Morgan & Son Funeral Home is serving the White family.
