Mrs. Joyce Austin Williams, age 78, of Marshville passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family, October 11, 2020. Joyce was born December 24, 1941 to the late John and LaVonne Austin in Anson County, NC. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ned of 62 years.

Joyce worked a public job for many years until she and her husband, Ned, made the decision that she would stay at home to care for her family and to work alongside each other on their farm raising poultry, cattle, and farming their land. Joyce loved to do many things, like preparing Sunday lunches for her family, especially her famous chicken-and-dumplings. She was talented at many things, such as, sewing, canning, baking, tending to her flowers and her summer garden. Joyce was a wonderful wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother. She had the most caring heart, infectious laugh, and always did for others before herself. Joyce never met a stranger and loved to talk to anyone who she encountered, "which lead to finding out that they were related in some way down the line."

Joyce is survived by her two daughters, Lisa (Dennis) Keziah, Leigh Ann (John) Flynn; granddaughter, MacKenzie (Darren) Thomas, grandson, John Curtis Flynn, and great-grandson, Williams Thomas, all of Marshville, NC. A sister, Elaine (John) Ames of Virginia Beach, VA as well as many nieces and nephews that she loved very much.

A funeral service to celebrate the life of Joyce will be at 11:00 am, Tuesday October 13, 2020 from the graveside of Olive Branch Baptist Church Cemetery. Due to COVID19, please exercise state restrictions while at the service. Special thanks to all caregivers that devoted their time in caring for our sweet mother, aka. "Nanny" as we called her.
