Peachland - Mrs. Karen Lockhart Nance, 67, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at Atrium Health – Union, surrounded by the love of her life of 42 years and her loving children. Born June 16, 1954 in Mecklenburg County, she was the oldest daughter of Betty Thomas Lockhart and the late Worth Frank Lockhart.
Karen is survived by her husband Al Nance; daughter, Allison Harris (Ryan), son, Josh Nance (Angela); daughter, Melanie Knight (Will); grandchildren, Nora and Annie Harris, Makyna, Brinley, Charley, and Addilyn Nance; Easton, Kaiden, and Cohen Knight; sisters, Tammy Lockhart and Melanie Lyon; brothers, Chip Lockhart and Charles Lockhart; special niece, Elin Lockhart; special nephew, Cameron Lockhart.
Karen lived most of her life in the Burnsville community and met her husband on June 4, 1978. After a short engagement, they married on January 14, 1979. Karen was employed with Anson Community Hospital as a Licensed Practical Nurse for 12 years, then decided to put her many talents to use as a stay-at-home mother and homemaker. She was famous for her southern-style home cooking, cake decorating, ceramics and crafting skills, and a lover of coffee and the beach, but her proudest accomplishment was being Mimi to her 9 beautiful grandchildren. Karen attended Harmony Community Church with her beloved family for the last 12 years.
A funeral service to celebrate Karen's life will be at 3pm, Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at Harmony Community Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2-2:45pm in the church fellowship building.
