Peachland, NC - Mr. Kenneth Lee Rowell 73, passed away June 28, 2020 at his home surrounded by friends and family after a long battle with cancer.  Born May 8, 1947 in Union County, he was a son of the late Efird Rowell and Mary Jeanette Rowell.  He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Tammy Rowell Crneckiy in 2011.

Ken was a retired Staff Sergeant and Vietnam Veteran of the United States Army.  He also worked several years in the late 1970's as a Marshville Police officer.  Later in life, he worked as a correctional officer at Brown Creek Correctional retiring in 2009 after 20 years of service.  He proudly served his country, community and his state with dignity and honor.

A funeral service to celebrate the life of Kenneth will be held 2 PM Friday, from the Chapel of Morgan & Son Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Marshville City Cemetery with military honors.  The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6-8 PM at Morgan & Son Funeral Home.

Mr. Rowell is survived by his wife of 54 years, Nancy Cordell Rowell of the home; son, Kenny Rowell and his wife Lori of Peachland; sister,  Patty Benton and her husband Rick of Wingate; brother Jim Rowell (Linda) of Marshville; 3 grandchildren, Kim (Josh), Jessica and Heather; 2 great grandchildren, Jada and Josh; several nieces and nephews.
