Obituary

Mr. LeRoy Trawick 100, passed away Friday morning surrounded by family in his home. He was born March 15, 1915 in Union County to the late Samuel Lee and Pearl Hill Traywick. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 75 years, Ethel Griffin Traywick; five brothers, Marcus, Curtis, Ernest, LP and Paul Traywick. Three sisters, Irene Traywick James, Virginia Traywick Sells and Dorothy Traywick Helms.
Mr. Traywick served with the US Army in the Pacific during WWII. He returned home in 1946 to help his father run the family store, then later went on to work in the farming, cattle and abattoir businesses. He enjoyed spending time at the coast and catching fish from Oak Island Pier. He also loved gardening, dancing and country music.
Mr. Traywick is survived by two sons, Bob Traywick and his wife Delura and Bill Traywick and his wife Ann all of Marshville; two daughters, Gail Traywick Rushing and fiancee' Paul Dremann of Salt Lake City Utah and Janet Traywick Perkins of Marshville and her fiancee' Joe Sutherland of Raleigh; 11 grandchildren, Laura Moore, Robert Traywick and his wife Cheri, Phillip Traywick, Michalyn Walker and husband Patrick, Kim Carpenter and her husband Dale, Lora Zalaquett and her husband George, Jill Troutman and her husband Lee, Jennifer Carroll and her husband Ernest, Susan Rushing and her husband Jim Windolf, Tom Rushing and his wife Maureen, Ashley Barry and her husband Chris; 23 great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Andrew, Alex and Abby Traywick, Tanner and Shelby Moore, Sam and Cora Walker, Kellen Carpenter, Jenna Gross, Amanda White, Max and Adam Zalaquett, Meredith Tripp, Thomas Troutman, Jonathan and Benjamin Carroll, Charlie and Nicholas Windolf, Christopher and Megan Rushing and Jessica and Leah Barry.
A funeral service to celebrate the life of LeRoy will be held 2pm Sunday at Union Grove Baptist Church with burial following in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 5 - 6:30 pm at Morgan & Son Funeral Home.
