Mrs. Lois Austin Brewer, 92, of New Salem community died Thursday April 13, 2017 in a traffic accident. Born June 11, 1924 in Anson County, she was the daughter of the late Lindsey and Faye Austin. She was the wife of the late Damon Rushing Brewer for 67 years. Damon and Lois loved spending time with the family on special occasions and holidays at the cattle farm. They enjoyed traveling, eating out with friends, serving in Mt. Moriah UMC. She wrote for the Marshville Home News for many years which made her husband Damon proud.
Mrs. Brewer is survived by three children, John Brewer and his wife Brenda of Unionville, NC, Jane C. Brewer Summerlin and her husband Stanley of Monroe and Mark D. Brewer and his wife Joy of New Salem; her only surviving sister, Kate Faulkner of Henderson, NC; 5 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11 am Monday at the Mt. Moriah UMC with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the graveside in the church's sanctuary.
