Lucille Hash Stewart 97 of Monroe, NC passed away peacefully on August 19, 2019 at the home of her daughter in Thompson's Station, TN. She was born in Linton, Indiana on November 6, 1921 to the late Grover and Mary Heacox. In additional to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband and father of her children Joseph Hash, also W.O. Greene and Van Stewart. When asked, she would say her greatest accomplishment in life was raising her seven children. Her greatest joy was being a Grandmother to three additional generations. She was affectionately called Mom or Granny by many. Her youngest neighbors in TN called her Granny-Lu. She was devoted to Jesus her Savior. She served in various ministries at Hopewell Baptist Church for over 60 years. She was also a much-loved part of Austin Grove Baptist Church where her son-in-law Leon is pastor. Her smile and beautiful presence will be missed.
A funeral service to celebrate the life of Lucille will be held Thursday at 11 am at Hopewell Baptist Church, Legacy Campus, 420 Hopewell Church Road, Monroe, NC. The family will receive friends from 10-10:45 in the church sanctuary. The burial will follow in the church cemetery.
She is survived by her children: Larry (Veronica) of Pawley NY, David (Linda) of Garner NC, Mike (Barbara) of Rutherfordton NC, Robert (Rosanna) of Wylie TX, Cindy Whitley (Leon) of Monroe, NC, Jeff (Cynthia) of Monroe, NC and Bethany Lennon (Alan) of Thompson's Station, TN, 15 grandchildren, 17 great grand-children, 2 great-great- grand children
