Obituary

Marceil Griffin Stegall, 86, of Marshville, NC, entered into the loving arms of her Lord on Sunday, Dec 18, 2016, surrounded by her family.

There will be a memorial service to celebrate the life and legacy of Marceil on Thursday, Dec 22, at 7:00 pm, at Marshville Presbyterian Church with visitaion to follow. A private burial service for immediate family will follow on Friday.

She was the daughter of James Clingman (J.C.) Griffin, Jr. and Buena Brewer Griffin.  Marceil was preceded in death by her parents, brother, and sister, and by her husband of 59 years, John Robert Stegall.

Robert and Marceil were the owners and operators of Stegall Smoked Turkey, Inc, in Marshville, and were life-long members of Marshville Presbyterian Church.  Marceil was a selfless person, devoting her time and energy toward helping others in the community.  She was a caregiver to both parents, her mother-in-law, and her husband, and spent the last several years of her life ministering to friends who were ill or who had no form of transportation.  She regularly took them out to eat, to doctors' appointments, or shopping, and was always ready to give a listening ear when they needed to talk.  She leaves a legacy of faith, commitment and devotion to family and friends.

Marceil is survived by her children, Ceilia Stegall Talbert & husband, Buddy, of Marshville, John Robert (Bob) Stegall, Jr. of Durham, NC, and Don Calvin Stegall & wife, Christie, of Marshville.  She has three grandchildren, Derek Stegall and wife, Caroline of Marshville; Daniel Stegall & fiancée, Taylor Trepte of Atlanta; and Donna Stegall of Charlotte.  Marceil is also survived by  two great-grandchildren, Devon and Dallas Stegall, and seven nieces and nephews.  She will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know her.
