Margaret A. Locke 94, passed away on July the 18th, 2018 at her residence. She was born in Gaston County on June the 21st, 1924 to the late Forney Luther and Minnie McClure Abernethy. She was preceded in death by her husband Bert D. Locke, Col. US Army (ret). She was also preceded in death by her daughter Mrs. Nancy Lawson and one grandson Mr. Scott Lawson.
Margaret retired from Charlotte-Mecklenburg Public Schools where she served as a classroom teacher as well as an Administrator. She was a volunteer at Union Regional Hospital in Monroe as well as Union County Meals on Wheels. Margaret was an active member of Union County Extension Program at Rock Rest. She was also an active member of Bethel Baptist Church.
Memorial Services will be at 11am Saturday at Bethel Baptist Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
She is survived by her children: Ms. Sammie Locke of Marshville, Mrs. Beverly O'Neal and her husband Johnny of Blenheim, SC, and Philip Locke and Patricia Locke both of Hickory. Her sister Mrs. Patsy Patterson of Titusville, Fla. Seven grandchildren, to include her grandson Chris Lawson of Marshville, and 7 great-grandchildren also survive her.
