Marshville – Maria Angela Alvarez Santana died March 30 ^th , 2022 at the age of 99 peacefully in her sleep at Hospice Care in Monroe, NC.

She leaves behind her sister's Irma and Virginia, and her brother Santo. Her 5 children Georgina, Jose, Ramon, Jimmy and Mildred. 9 grandchildren Frances, Jeanette, Joey, Jennifer, Angela, Jeffrey, James, Melissa, and Brian. 13 great-grandchildren Daniel, Anastasia, Jurnee, Jeffrey, Orianna, Shania, Elijah, Page, Isaiah, Paris, Jayden, Jianna, and Josiah. 2 great-great grandchildren Luna, and Dominic.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ismael in 1991, and her son John in 2009.

Born in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico on Oct 4 ^th , 1922 to Ana Maria and Marcelino, she lived a simple and happy life. In 1951 Maria moved to NY with her husband Ismael, and her children Georgina, Jose, and Ramon. Later having Jimmy, John, and Mildred.

Maria was known to be a kind, loving soul, who was an active member of her church. She loved life, family, and friends, but most of all she loved God. Maria had a great sense of humor, she would liven up any room she entered, and befriended anyone she met.

Maria may have departed this earth, but her memory, stories, strength, and zest for life will live on forever.

A memorial service and her burial will be held in NY for family members.
